Integrations

Integrations: Linear, Notion, Teamwork and Asana

Link an Hourtick task to the issue, page or task your team already keeps elsewhere, and the time you track follows it there. Connect your own account in Settings, or build your own flows on the API, Zapier and Make.

How it works

  1. Open Settings → Integrations and connect your own account to Linear, Notion, Teamwork or Asana. Each person connects for themselves.
  2. Open a task and paste the address of the issue, page or task it belongs to. For Linear, an identifier such as ENG-123 works too.
  3. The card shows the linked item's title and status, refreshed when it is more than five minutes old.
  4. Track time on the Hourtick task as usual, from the timer, the week grid or your AI assistant.
  5. When you finish the task, the time goes back: a comment with the total in Linear and Notion, real time entries in Teamwork and Asana.

What each integration does

  • Linear: link an issue by address or identifier; when the Hourtick task is done, a comment with the total time and a link back is added in your name
  • Notion: choose the pages to share on Notion's own consent screen, link one by address, and get the same comment with the total
  • Teamwork: each finished entry of a minute or more becomes a time log for the person who tracked it, and stays in step if the entry is edited or deleted
  • Asana: the same for Asana time entries, plus a comment with the total when the task is done
  • Zapier and Make: automation on the Hourtick API; both apps are in review with the directories and aren't listed yet

One-way on purpose

Hourtick reads the item you linked and writes time back. It doesn't change anything else, and nothing is kept in sync in the other direction: no duplicated fields, no sync conflicts and no surprise edits in your plan. A task links to at most one item per product.

Your account, your permissions

Each person connects with OAuth 2.0, so Hourtick only does what that person could do in the other product, and only on the tasks they link. Tokens are encrypted, refresh on their own and are deleted when you disconnect or when a refresh fails. AI agents never use anyone's connection. If the other tool is down, your timer still works.

Build your own on the API

Everything in the app is also in the REST API and the MCP server: tasks, time entries, reports, projects and clients. Use a personal token from a script, let Zapier or Make move data, or let an AI assistant do the glue, and see Hourtick API and MCP for details.

Frequently asked questions

Which integrations are available today?

Linear and Notion are live. Teamwork, Asana, Zapier and Make are built and coming soon, as they clear each directory's review. Settings → Integrations shows what you can connect.

Does it sync both ways?

No. Hourtick reads the linked item and writes time back. Nothing in the other tool is changed except the comment or time entry we add.

Does an AI agent use my Linear or Asana account?

Never. Agents can't use anyone's connection. They log time in Hourtick as themselves.

What happens if I edit or delete an entry that was already sent?

For Teamwork and Asana the time entry is updated or removed to match. For Linear and Notion a new comment is added if the total changes when you finish the task again; if the total is the same, nothing is posted.

Can I use Hourtick's API without these integrations?

Yes. The REST API and MCP server are included on every plan, with personal tokens and OAuth for assistants.

Are integrations free?

Yes, on every plan.
