Teamwork time tracking with Hourtick

Plan the work in Teamwork.com and track it in Hourtick: the menu bar timer, the week grid, or your AI assistant. Link an Hourtick task to a Teamwork task once, and every finished entry becomes a time log on that Teamwork task in your name. Edit or delete the entry in Hourtick, and the log follows.

What Teamwork gets

Time logs on the linked task: the day, the length, your notes and whether it's billable.

What it does

  • Link a Teamwork task to an Hourtick task by pasting its address; the card shows its name and status
  • Each finished entry of a minute or more becomes one Teamwork time log for the person who tracked it
  • Editing an entry updates the same log; deleting it, or moving it to another task, removes it
  • Works with any Teamwork.com site and region: each person signs in with Teamwork's own login and picks their site

Set up Teamwork and Hourtick

  1. Create a free account at hourtick.com, or sign in.
  2. Open Settings → Integrations and press Connect next to Teamwork.
  3. Sign in to Teamwork.com, pick your site if you have more than one, review the access and press Allow. You return to Hourtick's settings.
  4. Open an Hourtick task. In the Linked section press Link and paste the address of a Teamwork task.
  5. Track time on the Hourtick task: start and stop the timer, or add time in the week grid. The finished entry shows up on the Teamwork task as a time log in your name.

Addresses you can paste:

  • https://yoursite.teamwork.com/#/tasks/12345

Permissions and your data

  • Read the Teamwork tasks you link, to show their name and status
  • Add, update and delete the time logs Hourtick created on those tasks
  • Nothing else: Hourtick doesn't create, change or delete tasks, projects or people, and connecting changes nothing in Teamwork
  • Each person connects their own account. Tokens are stored encrypted and deleted when you disconnect.
  • AI agents in Hourtick never use your connection.

What it doesn't do

  • No two-way sync: time logged directly in Teamwork doesn't come back to Hourtick
  • Running timers are sent when they stop, and entries under one minute aren't sent
  • Removing a link or disconnecting leaves the time logs already sent in Teamwork

Troubleshooting

"Connect Teamwork first"
The Link box says this until you've connected Teamwork in Settings → Integrations, in the Hourtick workspace you're in.
"Teamwork can't find that task, or you don't have access to it"
The connected Teamwork user can't see that task, or it's on another Teamwork site. Connect the right site, or ask for access in Teamwork.
The time log doesn't appear
Check that the timer is stopped and the entry is at least one minute long. Time is sent for the person who tracked it, so it lands in their name, on their Teamwork connection.
"Teamwork is limiting requests"
Teamwork's rate limit was hit. Wait a minute; the entry is sent again on its next change.
Disconnecting
Open Settings → Integrations and press Disconnect. Hourtick deletes its token at once.

Frequently asked questions

Whose name is on the time log?

The person who tracked the time. Each person connects their own Teamwork account, and Hourtick writes with that account, so Teamwork's own permissions apply.

Are notes and billable status sent?

Yes. The entry's notes become the log's description, and the billable flag follows the Hourtick project and task type. The day and length are always sent; the clock time isn't.

Can several Teamwork sites be connected?

Each person connects one Teamwork site per Hourtick workspace. Different people in the same workspace can connect different sites.

Do AI agents use my connection?

Never. AI agents in Hourtick can't connect, link or use anyone's connection. Their time stays in Hourtick, as their own rows in Reports.

Does it cost anything?

No. Integrations are included on every Hourtick plan, Free included. You need your own account in the other product.

What happens if the other product is down?

Nothing stops in Hourtick. Your timer, tasks and reports work as usual; the call is made after your change is saved, and a failure is logged and tried again on the next change.
