Tasks
Tasks and time tracking in one simple place
Plan the work on a board or a list, then track time right on the task. Hourtick tasks have assignees, due dates, priorities, labels, checklists, a chat and files with previews, and every minute you track lands on the task, so you can see what each piece of work really cost.
How it works
- Press C anywhere on the Tasks page, type a title and press Enter. Add details later, or never.
- Drag cards between To do, In progress, In review and Done, or switch to the list view.
- Assign one or more people, set a due date and a priority, and add a checklist or subtasks.
- Mark what has to be done first: a blocked task shows a lock and unlocks by itself when its blockers are done.
- Discuss it in the task's chat and drop in screenshots, PDFs or any file. Images and PDFs preview right there.
- Click Start timer on the task, or pick it in "What are you working on?". Free text still works when there's no task.
Everything a task needs, nothing it doesn't

- Live updates: everyone sees changes within a second
- Short numbers (#12) and links you can share
Time on every task
A task can belong to a project and client. Start a timer on it and the time is booked to that project with the right task type. Each task shows its tracked time against the estimate, per person, and Reports can group all time by task.
Free for the whole team
Tasks are included on every plan, for unlimited people. Free includes 500 MB of usage a month; Pro is $29/month for 5 GB when your team shares a lot of files.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to use tasks to track time?
No. Typing what you're working on and pressing Start works exactly as before. Tasks are there when you want them.
Can a task have several assignees?
Yes, as many as you like.
Which files preview?
Images (PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, AVIF) and PDFs preview in Hourtick. Other files download. Files can be up to 25 MB each.
Can I manage tasks through the API or my AI assistant?
Yes. The REST API covers tasks, comments, checklists and files, and the MCP server lets assistants list, create and update tasks and start timers on them.
Can an AI agent work on a task?
Yes. Hand a task to an agent from the task drawer and it works on it through the MCP server, posting progress in the task's activity. The people on the task stay responsible.
