An audit trail for approvals and changes to time
Show an auditor who approved the hours and whether anyone changed them afterwards. Approvals now keep every step of each week, and two CSV files give the approval history and every change to time, with the values before and after.
What's new
- Approvals → History lists every submit, withdrawal, approval, send-back and reopen, with who and when
- Reopening a week no longer erases the approval before it
- The approval history as CSV: week, person, what happened, by whom, when and the week's hours at that moment
- The change log as CSV: every change to time in the period, with who, when, and date, project, task type, hours, billable and notes before and after
- Changes made after a week had been approved are marked, so corrections after a reopen are easy to find
- Filter by person, or by project for a grant, and get the same data from the API or your AI (get_audit_trail)
Grant-funded projects and audits ask two questions about time: who approved it, and did anyone change it afterwards? Hourtick always recorded every change to a time entry, but there was no way to hand it to someone without a login, and reopening an approved week replaced its approval instead of adding to it.
Now every step of a week is kept: submitted, withdrawn, approved, sent back and reopened, each with who did it and when, and the week's hours at that moment. Steps from before today were rebuilt from the changes already recorded. Managers find it under Approvals → History, pick a period and a person, and download two files for the auditor: the approval history and the change log. In the change log, each change shows the entry before and after, and changes made after the week had been approved are marked.
