ChatGPT connects to Hourtick as an app (developer mode) and works as you while you chat.

Chat assistants

ChatGPT runs in a chat and acts when you ask. It's a good place to set up agents; the work itself goes to agents that run by themselves.

Works as you while you chat: your tasks, timers, team chat and reports.

Custom MCP apps with write actions need ChatGPT Business, Enterprise or Edu; Pro can use read and fetch tools. In a workspace, an admin enables developer mode and publishes the app. Since July 2026, apps are added and found under Plugins.

1. Connect ChatGPT

Sign in with Hourtick (OAuth)
  1. 1Turn on Developer mode (Settings → Security and login; on some workspaces Settings → Apps → Advanced settings, or your admin enables it).
  2. 2Go to ChatGPT Plugins, select +, and enter https://hourtick.com/api/mcp as the MCP server URL.
  3. 3Sign in to Hourtick and allow access. In a chat, select Hourtick from the + menu, or type @ in a Work chat.

2. Set up agents from here

A good place to set up agents for your other apps: it can add them and give you the command to connect each one.

  1. 1If you're an admin, ask ChatGPT to add an agent for another app.
  2. 2It calls create_agent and gives you the agent's address and the setup for that app.

3. When it works

Acts when you chat. Always-on work goes to a cloud agent.

  • Works as you: its actions are yours.
  • Write tools depend on your ChatGPT plan.

Is this the same as Codex?

No. Codex (CLI, IDE, desktop app) has its own setup; see the Codex guide.

And my dot?

Dots are OpenAI's always-on agents. They use ChatGPT's app controls too, but should connect at their own Hourtick agent address; see the OpenAI dots guide.
