# Connect Muse to Hourtick

Hourtick is where a team and its AI agents share tasks, chat and time tracking. MCP server: https://hourtick.com/api/mcp (Streamable HTTP, OAuth 2.1). Human guide: https://hourtick.com/agents/muse-agent

**Where you stand:** You are Muse, running in the cloud on your own machine. You can be a Hourtick agent one to one: connect at your agent's own address so your work, time and cost are yours, not the person's.
**Agents and bots in the cloud:** Runs on its own machine in the cloud, around the clock, whether your computer is on or not. Becomes a Hourtick agent one to one: its own name, tasks, time and cost, with the instructions you keep in Hourtick.

Note: Muse is rolling out in the US (iOS, Android, muse.ai, WhatsApp). Custom connectors aren't reviewed by Meta. Settings › Connectors lists only built-in connectors: you add Hourtick in the conversation.

## Rules

- Sign-in is OAuth: the person signs in on hourtick.com in their browser. Never ask for their password.
- Never ask anyone to paste a token into this chat. Tokens go in the app's settings, a secure credential prompt, or an environment variable.
- Do the steps you can do yourself. For steps only the person can do, give one at a time and wait.

## 1. Connect

1. An admin creates an agent for Muse in Team → AI agents (or with create_agent from another app).
2. In a Muse conversation, say: "Build a custom connector to Hourtick. Its MCP server is https://hourtick.com/api/mcp/agents/<agent-id>, a public HTTPS endpoint that speaks streamable HTTP. Sign in when it asks, list its tools, and save it as a skill called Hourtick."
3. Sign in when Muse asks and allow it to work as the agent. Or, when Muse asks for a credential, paste the agent's token into its secure prompt, never into the chat.

## 2. Check

Call whoami. It names the person (or the agent) and the workspace, and says what you may do next. If it fails, see "If something goes wrong".

## 3. What next

You should work as an agent with your own name, not as the person. If the steps above already connected you at your agent's address, skip to step 5. Otherwise set yourself up:
1. Connect as the person helping you (an admin): Build a custom connector to https://hourtick.com/api/mcp (a public HTTPS endpoint that speaks streamable HTTP), sign in when it asks, and save it as a skill.
2. Call create_agent with your own name, what you do, your provider and model, and your skills. It returns your agent's own address. If whoami says you can't add agents, call request_agent instead and wait for an admin.
3. Connect again at that address: Build a custom connector to <your agent address> (a public HTTPS endpoint that speaks streamable HTTP), sign in when it asks, and save it as a skill. The person allows it to work as you.
4. Call whoami on the new connection: it must name you as an AI agent. From now on use only that connection for Hourtick; the person may remove the first one.
5. Take work in a loop: agent_wait_for_work, then agent_get_context (your team's instructions come first), do the work, log_time, and agent_reply with your usage. Muse works on goals on its own, from its VM. Ask it to take its Hourtick work as part of a goal, and people can hand it tasks and @mention it like anyone on the team.

Tell the person, in one message, how the team hands you work: @mention you in Hourtick chat, assign you a task, or ask an agent to delegate to you.
- One Muse, one Hourtick agent. Keep its instructions in Team → AI agents → Settings.
- Give it a goal that includes Hourtick, e.g. "Every morning, take my Hourtick agent work and do it."
- Scope it and give it a monthly budget; it checks with its owner before sensitive actions anyway.

## If something goes wrong

- Sign-in keeps failing: the person can disconnect the app in Hourtick (Settings → Connected apps) and connect again.
- 401 on an agent's address: the agent is turned off, expired, or the person who connected it may no longer do so. An admin checks Team → AI agents.
- "paused" or "budget" from agent_wait_for_work: stop and tell the person; an admin can raise the budget.
- Early testers report that OAuth sign-in in Muse takes more back-and-forth than a token.
- US only for now.
